戸無瀬の滝は落差約85mの3段落ちの滝で平安時代から多くの和歌に詠まれ、天竜寺の開山である夢窓疎石が天竜寺十境の一つとしてこの滝を三級巖と名付けた。江戸時代に「嵯峨嵐山之図」や歌川(安藤)広重の筆による「六十余州名所図会」(シリーズ第1作目作品)などに描かれています。
Tonase Falls is a three-tiered waterfall with a height of approximately 85 meters. It has been written about in many waka poems since the Heian period, and Muso Soseki, the founder of Tenryu-ji Temple, considered this waterfall to be a”Sankyuugan” as one of Tenryu-ji Temple's ten temples.
In the Edo period, “Saga Arashiyama no Zu“ and It is depicted in works such as the “Sixty-odd Provinces Meisho Zue“ (first work in the series) written by Hiroshige Utagawa (Ando).
